Studio Space Wanted

I am feeling restless, stifled, (choking-creatively-muzzled) working and creating from home. I need a change and I want to find studio/gallery space for the New Year. I want to get up early every day and go 'somewhere?' to work, to dream, to make, to connect, to feel. Does anyone out there know of some hip space available? Do you long to work at home or do you yearn for a studio/atelier of your very own (away from where you sleep)?

Right Now, This Minute in Bedrock

My retro Barbados tray that sits beside my laptop. It holds
my well-used books, Libby my muse, Frida postcard from The Blue House
in Mexico City on a CTV photo clip. One wooden shoe of my German Grandmother's
(looking for the other one right now), paper clips, son's mini-digicam, pink sunglasses
and chartreuse china tea cup. And a touch of sand blown in from the beach.

Piles of magazines I keep on the floor around the outside of my studio. My other Grandmother's
depression glass juicer and an advertising promo ashtray for Humpty Dumpty chips.

Two things I'm reading....tonight.
My office chair, flag & morning sunbeams.
Paintbrushes in my German Grandfather's Dundee Marmalade pot, substantial holiday coffee mug from my eldest Daughter (see it below-I love filling it with strong coffee and warm milk), mask of my Daughter when she was about 10 (I think) - it's very flimsy now - plush Wilma. My Husband gave it to me for Christmas. Yes, I'm married to Fred. (seriously...think Fred and that's who I married.) I blame that on the fact that I watched The Flintstones every single lunch hour with tomato soup, crackers and a grilled cheese. I know every line of every episode. I manifested my marriage. Oh my.....I never realized this until right this second. Thanks for helping me work through that.

My Son heading off to his hockey banquet, pops in to say 'bye' and kiss.
Portrait of me by an artist I used to represent.
Paige lounging in the sunlight.
Two of my canvases on my office wall. I painted the American Flag in 2001 just a week
before 9/11 so it means a lot to me. To this day I often wonder why I felt compelled
to paint that when I did. I painted the Canadian Flag shortly after 9/11. Together they are 2 feet x 6 feet.
An original gouache by me of Frida Kahlo.
Thanks for dropping by. Things change fast around
here so right now, this minute, Bedrock is different.....
We are 'The Modern Stone-Aged Family'. Trust me.

Packing Moving Funky?

That would be a real stretch to call moving a 'Funky Project', but I'll go with it. At least for the next 24 hours while I rearrange my office/studio life. You too can purchase some of this packing tape and get busy with some kind of funky project. I hope to be up and running asap 'cause I have some sexy high-speed awaiting me as we speak. (Can you tell I'm trying to keep a very positive attitude?) The truth is I only need a few things to really keep me happy - I mean if I lost everything on a moving truck or a flash flood took it all away - laptop, camera, coffee, magazines, notebook, pen. And believe me, that's all packed and ready to go. Yes, loved ones and dog are included in that list too. (For those of you who are sitting there sipping your green tea muttering 'What a horrid girl. She didn't even mention her family.')

My Morgue, My Studio Binders

I have always maintained a creative morgue in my studio. I tear pages out of magazines; only the ones that truly get to me, tug at my heart, inspire me, remind me, catch my breath beautiful - all the things great images should do. I fill my binders (these are just my top 5 fav's) and I look through them often. One image can give me hundreds of clues, ideas and creative juice to work on a project. Do you have an inspiration book?
