Rather Be Clean Bandit ft. Jess Glynne

Oh, Woah, Ooh, ooh

We're a thousand miles from comfort, we have traveled land and sea
But as long as you are with me, there's no place I'd rather be
I would wait forever, exalted in the scene
As long as I am with you, my heart continues to beat

With every step we take, Kyoto to The Bay
Strolling so casually
We're different and the same, get you another name
Switch up the batteries

If you gave me a chance I would take it
It's a shot in the dark but I'll make it
Know with all of your heart, you can't shake me
When I am with you, there's no place I'd rather be
N-n-no, no, no place I'd rather be

We staked out on a mission to find our inner peace
Make it everlasting so nothing's incomplete
It's easy being with you, sacred simplicity
As long as we're together, there's no place I'd rather be

When I am with you, there's no place I'd rather be, yeah

Beeeeeeeeee, hooooooo oh
Be
Yeah-e-yeah-e-yeah-e-yeah-e-yeah, yeah, yeah
When I am with you, there's no place I'd rather be

Both Sides by Joni Mitchell

Both Sides

Rows and flows of angel hair,

and icecream castles in the air,

and feathered canyons everywhere,

I've looked at clouds that way,

but now they only block the sun.

They rain and snow on everyone.

So many things I would have done,

but clouds got in my way.

I've looked at clouds from both sides now,

from up and down,

and still somehow,

it's clouds illusions I recal.

I really don't know clouds...at all.

Moons and Junes and ferris wheels,

the dizzy dancing way you feel

as every fairy tale comes real;

I've looked at love that way.

But now it's just another show.

You leave 'em laughing when you go

and if you care,

don't let them know,

don't give yourself away.

I've looked at love from both sides now,

from give and take,

and still somehow

it's love's illusions I recall.

I really don't know love at all.

Tears and fears and feeling proud,

to say "I love you" right out loud,

dreams and schemes and circus crowds,

I've looked at life that way.

But now old friends are acting strange,

they shake their heads,

they say I've changed.

Something's lost

but something's gained in living every day.

I've looked at life from both sides now,

from win and lose,

and still somehow

it's life's illusions I recall.

I really don't know life at all.

Hallelujah by K.D. Lang

Hallelujah

"Hallelujah", in its original version, is a song in 6/8 time which evokes the styles of both waltz and gospel music. Written by Leonard Cohen in the key of C major, the chord progression follows the lyric "it goes like this, the fourth, the fifth, the minor fall, and the major lift": Cohen's original version contains several biblical references, most notably evoking the adulterous stories of King David and Bathsheba: "you saw her bathing on the roof, her beauty in the moonlight overthrew you".

Now I've heard there was a secret chord

That David played,

and it pleased the Lord

But you don't really care for music, do you?

It goes like this

The fourth, the fifth

The minor fall,

the major lift

The baffled king composing

Hallelujah

Hallelujah

Hallelujah

Hallelujah

Hallelujah

Your faith was strong but you needed proof

You saw her bathing on the roof

Her beauty and the moonlight overthrew you

She tied you

To a kitchen chair

She broke your throne,

and she cut your hair

And from your lips she drew the

Hallelujah

Hallelujah,

Hallelujah

Hallelujah,

Hallelujah

You say I took the name in vain

I don't even know the name

But if I did, well really,

what's it to you?

There's a blaze of light

In every word

It doesn't matter which you heard

The holy or the broken

Hallelujah

Hallelujah,

Hallelujah

Hallelujah,

Hallelujah

I did my best,

it wasn't much I couldn't feel,

so I tried to touch

I've told the truth,

I didn't come to fool you

And even though

It all went wrong

I'll stand before the Lord of Song

With nothing on my tongue but

Hallelujah

Hallelujah,

Hallelujah

Hallelujah,

Hallelujah

Hallelujah,

Hallelujah

Hallelujah,

Hallelujah

Hallelujah,

Hallelujah

Hallelujah,

Hallelujah

Hallelujah,

Hallelujah

Hallelujah,

Hallelujah

Hallelujah

Ordinary Miracle by Sarah Mclachlan

Ordinary Miracle
It's not that unusual
When everything is beautiful
It's just another
Ordinary miracle today
The sky knows when it's time to snow
Don't need to teach a seed to grow
It's just another
Ordinary miracle today
Life is like a gift,
they say
Wrapped up for you everyday
Open up, and find a way
To give some of your own
Isn't it remarkable?
Like everytime a raindrop falls
It's just another
Ordinary miracle today
The birds in winter have their fling
And always make it home by spring
It's just another
Ordinary miracle today
When you wake up everyday
Please don't throw your dreams away
Hold them close to your heart
'Cause we are all a part
Of the ordinary miracle
Ordinary miracle
Do you want to see a miracle
It seems so exceptional
That things work out after all
It's just another
Ordinary miracle today
The sun comes out and shines so bright
And disappears again at night
It's just another
Ordinary miracle today
It's just another
Ordinary miracle today

Breakaway

Grew up in a small town
And when the rain would fall down
I'd just stare out my window
Dreaming of what could be
And if I'd end up happy
I would pray
Trying hard to reach out
But when I tried to speak out
Felt like no one could hear me
Wanted to belong here
But something felt so wrong here
So I'd pray
I could break away
I'll spread my wings and I'll learn how to fly.
I'll do what it takes till I touch the sky.
Make a wish, take a chance,
Make a change,
and break away.
Out of the darkness and into the sun.
But I won't forget all the ones that I love.
I'll take a risk, take a chance,
Make a change,
and break away
Wanna feel the warm breeze
Sleep under a palm tree
Feel the rush of the ocean
Get onboard a fast train
Travel on a jetplane
Far away
And break away
I'll spread my wings and I'll learn how to fly.
I'll do what it takes till I touch the sky.
Make a wish, take a chance,
Make a change,
and break away.
Out of the darkness and into the sun.
But I won't forget all the ones that I love.
I'll take a risk, take a chance,
Make a change,
and break away
Buildings with a hundred floors
Swinging with revolving doors
Maybe I don’t know where they’ll take me
Gotta keep movin on movin on
Fly away
Break away
I'll spread my wings and I'll learn how to fly.
Though it’s not easy to tell you goodbye
Take a risk, take a chance,
Make a change,
and break away.
Out of the darkness and into the sun.
But I won't forget the place I come from
I gotta take a risk, take a chance,
Make a change,
and break away
Breakaway
Break away

Empire State of Mind

For those who dismiss hiphop and rap. For those who claim it will cause violence and rage in young people. For those who whisper that hiphop will make you go blind, it is true they wear sunglasses, but 'we ain't blind'. (for the record, I listen to hiphop and rap a lot) For those who show no tolerance for the poetry of the street. For those of you who believe this music genre is made in a burning studio by Diablo himself. (only a happy place could give this world Jay-Z - enlarge the top photo to see his beauty) This is for you: He is now the solo artist with the most No. 1 albums, 11, in Billboard history, surpassing Elvis Presley; he now trails only the Beatles over all. (and actually, he's a businessman earning well over $178 million last year....so if you are reading this and you have any talent for 'beats'....you too can be a massive success.) Oh Sasha Fierce. Lounging at the 40/40 Club. You are a lucky girl.

525,600 Minutes

Five hundred twenty-five thousand

Six hundred minutes,

Five hundred twenty-five thousand

Moments so dear

Five hundred twenty-five thousand

Six hundred minutes

How do you measure,

measure a year?

In daylights,

in sunsets,

in midnights

In inches,

in miles,

in laughter,

in strife

In five hundred twenty-five thousand

Six hundred minutes

How do you measure a year in the life?

How about love?

How about love?

How about love?

Measure in love
Seasons of love

Seasons of love

Five hundred twenty-five thousand

Six hundred minutes

Five hundred twenty-five thousand

Journeys to plan

Five hundred twenty-five thousand

Six hundred minutes

How do you measure the life

Of a woman or a man?

In truths that she learned

Or in times that he cried

In bridges he burned

Or the way that she died

It's time now to sing out

Tho' the story never ends

Let's celebrate

Remember a year in the life of friends

Remember the love

(Oh you got to, got to)

Remember the love

(Remember the love)

Seasons of love

(Measure measure you life in love)

Seasons of love

Seasons of love

Jackass Tweet Page Does Not Exist

Pres. Obama just called Kanye West a "jackass" for his outburst at VMAs when Taylor Swift won. Now THAT'S presidential. - Terry Moran (Twitter)

(Hmmm...this is America right? Land of free speech? Then why has the tweet disappeared?)

Read the reason here. Ay Ay Ay.

Kanye + Taylor + Beyonce = Leno Ratings

Planned Jay Leno Ratings publicity stunt? Perhaps. More money for all of them. How do we know that they didn't all get together and plan the live surprising event! A giddy Swift was in the midst of her acceptance speech for Best Female Video when the often-mercurial West rushed onstage, grabbed her microphone and let loose an outburst on behalf of singer Beyonce Knowles, who had lost out in that category. But audiences who stayed tuned until the end (WATCH THIS!!!) of the broadcast were treated to a touching bookend: Knowles, the night's top winner - Best Video of the Year: "Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It), invited Swift onstage and gave the teen singer her moment in the spotlight. Beyonce is such a class act. Well, Mr. Jay Primetime Leno.....I think this might help you tonight! (because Kanye West is your guest on your show preem) They are the masters. We are the puppets.

"Acute Propofol Intoxication" HOMICIDE

So sad and sickening. I have no other words to say. Except I'm Sorry. Sorry because it feels like we (the world) are losing a lot of great people lately. What's happening? Do you feel it too? It's another cluster of loss. I feel uneasy about it. (Happy 51st Birthday Michael Aug. 29th)

A Garden That Grows Bicycles and Other Magical Tales From My 2 Week Journey (phew..that's a long title)

It all started a few weeks ago when I was driven up the winding hills at sunset, up up up, to the top of Blue Mountain; and from there...south a few miles to Singhampton. Here the air is cleaner and fresher and crisper and full of bountiful oxygen. On the expansive green lawns of a mountain home you'll find a well cared plot with a bicycle patch. Yes, they are sprouting. Soon ready for picking. Excellent for anyone's hundred mile lifestyle. Between the tastings and giggling children digging in the sandbox and peeking for tadpoles on the Mad River shoreline, I watched the hen house and rooster tango with the cocky peacock. These are the images and magical tales I want to; that I promised to - share with you. Tonight my heart is heavy with another sound and image. I did not cry when I heard MJ died. I did not shed a tear watching all the coverage and interviews and flashbacks. But today, I sobbed and sobbed when I listened to Paris speak into the microphone. That just cracked open my welded-shut heart. I've been crying ever since. In the car, in the store, in the kitchen, in the bathroom...in my mind - her words were so sad, don't you think? Heart breaking. And so goes life. Given things and taken things. I want to sneak up the mountain to dig up my favorite bike. Perhaps it will take me up and away from all things sad; up to the crescent moon.

Julie & Julia and The Soundtrack of Our Lives

Yesterday was a wonderful, wonderful day. I was up early and hit the sun-kissed county road to pick up my daughter and Miss Joyce Hannah. Joycie Girl had her 6 mos. check-up and needle. She is doing so well! She now weighs 17 lbs. I was sitting out in the waiting room and I heard the needle go in...and she let the rows of magazine flipping patients know too. After visiting Dr. Kiss (yes, that's her real name) we went to Value Village. My big find: An original 1961 edition of Julia Child's Mastering the Art of French Cooking! I was so thrilled. I could tell by the way the pages waved and flopped that the book was some one's favorite and was well used. Some lucky family enjoyed these recipes often. The weather was hot and humid and we three gals did not even care. We left the air-conditioning 'off' and giggled as the moist wind twisted and twirled our hair as we drove from plaza to plaza. I must tell you. I was impressed. Joycie Girl is a true shopper. Later that night I received the new book by Julie Powel, Julie & Julia! So now I must cook and read and then go see the new movie. Isn't it amazing how a blog can become a book and then a film. (here is her new blog) We all have hope!
Sidebar: I completely disconnected from technology yesterday. No phone, no cell, no internet, no blog, no email. It was a day long sabbatical. I arrived home at 10pm with my teenage son and his friends announcing in loud unison 'Michael Jackson is dead. Farrah Fawcett is dead. Can you make us a snack?' I just stood there with a jaw-dropped look on my face. Michael gave me and you and the world 'The Soundtrack of Our Lives'. Superstar to Reclusive Billionaire. Adorable to Freakish. (I'm sorry that I must write that, but it's true) Dead at 50 - so young - with $400 million dollars in debt. I am sad. Food will help.
