Here are the Top 10 Reasons why you should have sex with David Letterman:

1. David provides a 'live' band on site. (instead of an iPod deck)

7. You'll never have a 'Late Night'. (You can go home to watch him in bed)

8. David 'pants' (worldwide) and Paul lights your cigarette when you are finished.

9. The ghost of Ed Sullivan is watching. (and you like that)

Letterman is such a hypocrite. He's the boss, I can't believe no one has sued him for workplace sexual harassment.

Linda, He was very smug about it wasn't he? It became part of his schtick last night.

You know, if you want to rip off the Ttop 10 format, the least you could do is be funny.

Linda: what makes him a hypocrite?

Glad he is not my husband and I wont defend what he did, its not my job but I don't feel comfortable judging his personal sexual conduct. Also, while its not advisable, having sex with your boss is not equivalent to sexual harassment.

I didn't see it as smug, I saw someone very uncomfortable telling his audience about something that was going to be news and he decided to get in front of the gossip mongers.

Sanctimony is so gross. Done with your site and Surroundings, as well. If I wanted political commentary I wouldn't be looking at design posts.

Anon: Thanks for stopping by Liberty Post. My blog has varied topics and is considered a 'lifestyle' blog rather than just a design blog....I have posted extensively about politics and peace and human rights..and design...but I all of 'the arts'(which includes design) best!

I think Letterman is a hypocrite because he doesn't hesitate to go after other public people for both fair and unfair reasons - all for a joke or to make a personal political point. So, behind the scenes, he's just the same. As for sexual harassment, as the owner of his show, he is everyone's boss, and is therefor in a position of power over all who work there. His relationships weren't balanced as he had power of authority over those women - how do we know he didn't use that, or they didn't at least feel it? Do I think it was concensual? yes. Do I think he forced himself on anyone? No. But, he opened himself up for what he got. That's why I can't believe he wasn't sued. He was lucky that the extortion plot made him into the victim. But, he was right to go to the authorities, absolutely.

And Anon - what is "gross" are critical comments made under the protection of anonymity. Be a grownup and own your opinions.

I would argue while clearly a flawed person, he is not a hypocrite. He has gone after people regarding personal conduct to reveal their own hypocrisy, that's the joke. He's shtick is usually though to call someone out as stupid or a crook (Cheney/Rumsfeld). More importantly,as to whether his behavior is hypocritical, no one turns to Dave Letterman for moral guidance and spiritual inspiration..at least I don't. As to the sexual harassment issue, apparently his production company allows employees to have sexual relations with each other, as is policy now with most corps after the repealing of difficult to enforce and unrealistic corp conduct policies that were implemented in the early 90's when companies were paranoid about being sued. As to him using his inherit power to harass (in all its forms) employees, that is a real possibility, but the fact that no one has try to sue him it in the last 20 odd years he has had a show may indicate, he is not a total sleazeball..but we will see now wont we!

I think Dave handled the sordid situation with a lot of aplomb, actually. In the real world, mutually consentual sexual relationships go on in all environments, and who are we to comment upon what 2 strangers each get out of the relationships? What appears to be the power dynamic is not necessarily the actual energy of the relationship, anyway. I really don't give a crap about celebrities' sex lives. What I think is the really disgusting thing is that some creep tried to exploit Mr and Mrs Letterman so blatantly. I think we should remember that regardless of what Dave says on TV, he and his family are victims of a crime. As for the Anon's comments, I wanted to say that when I was in college I wrote for my university's newspaper. I pissed people off so badly, our exchange students abroad would send off rants via airmail. I loved it. We papered our bathroom with my hate mail. Hilarious. Do what you want when you want, kitten. I always do! xo your kitty.
