Please, Not Him

A new book, "In The President's Secret Service", says Obama receives as many as 30 death threats a day, 400 per cent more than those made against his predecessor, George W. Bush. Please. Whoever you are. Wherever you are. Please, not him. Please do not take him from us. (Keep him safe)

That scares the shit out of me. I am adding the President to the family shrine, and lighting the candles as soon as I finish this comment. Peace Now!

Thanks for asking! It is an ever changing array that moves around the house, but usually stays in the guest room where I do yoga. Essential elements include: an image of Buddha, seasonal flowers, candles, a little dish of water, and photos of my family members. Right now, its surface area is the top of the bookcase where I keep my Dharma books and my great grandmothers' Bibles. Today, as I mentioned, I am adding a little picture of the President, probably beside the smiling face of the Dalai Lama.

Many of us are stunned by the seemingly lax "security" afforded our President. Assault rifles in the immediate area where he is speaking? Hateful political opponents and talking heads inciting anyone prone to violence? Fundamentalist pastors wishing him dead?
George Bush was ensconced in a protective bubble that corraled dissenters within distant free speech zones. His audiences were politically screened. Can you imagine what would have befallen an armed person anywhere near Bush? We must question such a blatant double standard.
Please forgive my fervor, but I am horrified and frustrated. God willing, a hedge of protection will be formed around President Obama and his family.

Lovely thoughts on the President. I totally agree with you... Not Him ! Let's not show one another that we are completely morally bankrupt by harming this man.
I guess he well knew the risks, but that just makes him all the more special for wanting the task.
