Chinese Lantern Festival
The Chinese Lantern Festival made its first appearance at Ontario Place in 2006 showcasing 30 elaborate, grand-scale lantern installations constructed by 60 master craftsmen and women from Zigong, China. These radiant lantern sets took 45 days to assemble and were displayed on the land and in the water throughout the park. The inaugural festival included an authentic Chinese marketplace, live cultural performances, along with spectacular presentations of traditional artwork and red silk lanterns. A record 200,000 guests experienced this first time one-of-a-kind event. With a primary focus on three major dynasties in Chinese history namely, the Qin Dynasty, the Tang Dynasty, and the Song Dynasty, the lanterns are an outstanding demonstration of the craftsmen’s talent and skill. Gaze in awe at the impressive, intricate and innovative designs. The lanterns are coming again. Will you be there?

That is totally amazing. And the good thing is that the display is there for quite awhile, allowing for lots of visitors. Now I"m off to Mapquest to see how far it is from the outer limits of Chicago to Toronto.

I love those lanterns so colourful and bright, I wish I was there, great photos. They have the same kind of festival in Montréal, une fête de la lumière!!
that's spectacular - there's something magical about lanterns.
