New Orleans Handbag (does BARKcloth really BARK?)

The ability to see what textile can become from what it used to be excites me. I marvel at the vision and sewing skills of artists around the world. Gretchen Ciccotti creates these splendid RE-creations. She skillfully brings to life vintage inspired designs for your modern life. Gretchen's bags are made from recycled 1940's bark cloth, antique kimono silk, tattered quilts and old french toile fabric. (all lovingly laundered of course!) Her website is here and her fun, one-of-a-kind etsy shop is here. Have some eye-candy fun this morning! Gretchen's blog - published all the way from Cleveland, Ohio, U.S.A - is waiting for you! Does barkcloth really bark? And who made up that name anyway?
