A week of festivities will include the Presidential Swearing-in Ceremony, Inaugural Address, Inaugural Parade and numerous inaugural balls and galas honoring the new President of the United States. The official theme for the 2009 inauguration is “Renewing America’s Promise,“ a vision that underscores the President-elect and Vice President-elect’s commitment to restoring opportunity and possibility for all and re-establishing America’s standing as a beacon of hope around the world.
Yes, there will be parties around the globe - oh yes, there will be 'Balls' - but I truly believe that Barack would approve of 'the people' chipping in to host 'Inauguration Potlucks' in every neighborhood. Why not rent the local community hall or church basement? Why not host a potluck at your work or local club? Better yet, why not host one in your own home.
The perfect scenario is to have a luncheon potluck so that you and your guests can watch the event 'live', but if that's not possible, have it that evening. (stay glued to CNN)
