"Plant Your Victory Garden" - World Food Program

Victory gardens, also called war gardens or food gardens for defense, were vegetable, fruit and herb gardens planted at private residences in the United States, Canada, and United Kingdom during World War I and World War II to reduce the pressure on the public food supply brought on by the war effort. In addition to indirectly aiding the war effort these gardens were also considered a civil "morale booster" — in that gardeners could feel empowered by their contribution of labour and rewarded by the produce grown. Making victory gardens became a part of daily life on the home front. Dig! Dig! Dig! And your muscles will grow big. Keep on pushing the spade. Don’t mind the worms. Just ignore their squirms. And when your back aches laugh with glee. And keep on diggin’ Till we give our foes a Wiggin’ Dig! Dig! Dig! to Victory" I guess it's coming back. Hoe.

First off, I want that poster! Second, does supporting the local Farmers Market count? They do a much better job than I.

I have a garden my first one, and it is growing so huge. So I guess that I am doing my part. I have so many tomatoes that I don't think I will be able to eat them all. haha; Love the post. Have a good day.

Hugs;

I was wondering when we were going to start seeing this type of thing encouraged. Soon they'll be asking us to save our tin cans and other metal scraps for making bullets and tanks. Maybe. Maybe not.

I didn't have a veggie garden this year. Every year it seems like a great idea, I plant it and then I get super busy and all the plants either die or dont' product much at all. This year I stuck to basil thyme and tomatoes....oh, and one bean plant that survived the winter.
