Mexican Broccoli for Peanuts

MEXICAN BROCCOLI - RICE CASSEROLE

1 pkg. frozen broccoli
1 jar Mexican style Cheez Whiz
1 can cream of mushroom soup
1 can instant rice
Cut broccoli in pieces.
Mix in Cheez Whiz, mushroom soup and 1 can instant rice.
Bake

I find this so darn funny. First of all we don't want the Mexican's to do our dirty work (well, actually we do, but god forbid they stay in our country to improve their lives)....then we make nasty meals with plastic cheese and preservative-laden products to feed ourselves. I can't wrap my head around it. By the way, these handsome dudes are working just down the street from my home. Hard working, festive, laughing men from Mexico. So pleased that I would jump out of my car and tramp through the mud to take their photo; so friendly to approach me to shake my hand; so honoured to be able to earn some money for their families; so dissed in the media; so what you may ask? We take too many things for granted. Next time you buy a head of broccoli remember who picked it for peanuts.

Oh! I could just hug you for your posting this. My husband and I talk about this subject all the time. I live in the San Joaquin Valley. We say the economy would collapse if they sent all of the farmworkers back to Mexico. I can't stand Sean Hannity or Bill O'Reilly. Were their ancestors just plopped down in the U.S. by osmosis? My grandfather who worked hard his whole life, without help from the government, was an "illegal alien" from the Azores.

Love this post! My brother inlaw is from Mexico......came to the US during the Amnesty Regan years. The stories he tell can curl your hair. He is now a nurse, loving every minute of his life. So grateful for the opportunity of education.
Have you seen the movie/documentary "WetBack"? It's put out by an independent documentary company called IronWeed. I would challenge every person who doesn't believe ANY illegal aliens should be here.
I applaud you.
