NEW Apple Tablet and Your Blog

Could it be true? Could we read our beloved magazines on this lavish device? Could the upcoming Apple Tablet make our blogs look ravishing? (that is if it is net compatible) I think so! Look at the size of it!!! (this last sentence reminds me of the time one of my girlfriends walked in on her boyfriend having sex with an over-weight woman and all she - my friend - could say was 'Look at the size of her!') OMG, we laughed for months over that...once she stopped crying. (she's still with him!!!)

G8 G20 Huntsville, Ontario, Canada

Note: I'm not just here to entertain y'all, I'm here to educate. (wink)
The difference between G8 and G20

G8 countries: Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Russia, the United States of America and the United Kingdom.

The G8 Summit: Starting with six countries, the heads of state have met once a year since 1975. Subjects of the yearly event, which “eight world leaders get together in informal setting to talk about issues of day,” according to Parry Sound-Muskoka member of Parliament Tony Clement, range from international security, climate change, international trade and more.

G20 countries: Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, France, Germany, India, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, Mexico, Russia, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, South Korea, Turkey, United Kingdom, United States of America and the European Union.

The G20 Summit: The first informal meeting of the G20 took place in 1999 along with finance ministers and world banking representatives to discuss issues with the global economy. The G20 gained even greater significance in late 2008 following the financial crisis. In November 2008, the United States hosted the first-ever G20 Summit followed by one in London, England in April and the most recent in Pittsburgh last week.

Jordan Fierce

The look of a powerful, beautiful woman. But don't let that femininity fool you. She has a face holding strong with steel-edged determination. She doesn't need to be this busy. She could stay in the palace and relax and soak and graze. A mother; a wife; a boss; an advocate; a humanitarian; a queen. She has a Kingdom and a crown. She is Jordan Fierce.

Thinking of Shirley

Finding Frida Kahlo

Are these things of 'hers' fake? Read more here.....It seemed inconceivable that after decades of exhibitions, auctions, books, and movies, unpublished Frida Kahlo artwork could still be found anywhere, much less a shop in a converted textile factory. Finding Frida Kahlo presents, for the first time in print, an astonishing lost archive of one of the twentieth century's most revered artists. Hidden from view for over half a century, this richly illustrated, intimate portrait overflows with fascinating details about Kahlo's romances, friendships, and business affairs during a three-decade period, beginning in the 1920s when she was a teenager and ending just before she died in 1954. Full of ardent desires, seething fury, and outrageous humor, Finding Frida Kahlo is a rare glimpse into an exuberant and troubled existence: A vivid diary entry records her sexual encounter with a woman named Doroti; a painted box contains eleven stuffed hummingbirds, concealed beneath a letter in which she laments her discovery that her husband, Diego Rivera, had been monstrously dissecting 'these beautiful creatures' to extract an aphrodisiac; an altered French medical book describes the pain she was suffering from the amputation of her right leg, written by Kahlo upon pages that illustrate an amputation technique; a letter to a friend expresses her loneliness, and a simple request for coconut candies. Frida Kahlo never wrote an autobiography. Instead, she left behind a much more complex material universe.

This Just In: Conde Nast Budget Cuts

25% !!! And that's a lot. It is up to the publishers and editors how to reduce their budgets. It is unlikely that prominent editors like Anna Wintour of Vogue or Graydon Carter of Vanity Fair will cancel their town-car service: their magazines sell luxury, and Ms. Wintour’s swiping her 30-day MetroCard and jostling with Times Square commuters would hardly enhance that position. Happy As A Baby Tooth

Oh. Hello! I'm having a fun, fun, fun weekend. I'm as happy as a baby tooth. Plus I'm so, so, so happy that you come by to read my blog and that you 'get ' me. Have a wonderful weekend and thank you for being you. Love Liberty Post xo

Joan Rivers Tonight!

I am so pumped about this evening. I'm going to Casino Rama with Taylor Darling and my Mom to see Joan Rivers. This casino, which is located on a sprawling Native reserve, has a very Canadiana/West Coast/Native design. You would love it there. If Joan should recognize me and pull me aside to get my autograph I'll be sure to have someone take a photo. Sharing tomorrow.

G8 + G20 Heads to Huntsville, Ontario

Look out Cottagers Goldie and Kurt!!! HUNTSVILLE, Ont. (remember I blogged about this magical Canadian place before? and here) — Residents of the cottage country community of Huntsville, Ont., were hopeful Friday that a much bigger gathering of world leaders in their region would attract more tourists and leave them with better road and sewer systems. Prime Minister Stephen Harper announced Friday that Canada will host both the G8 and G20 summits next year. While the G8 will still take place in Huntsville in June, the Muskoka region north of Toronto has also been chosen for the larger gathering to be held around the same time. Many local business owners were enthusiastic about the change, saying they hoped it would bring in more business as the event's host, Deerhurst Resort (where Shania Twain was discovered), contracts out services. Yeah Canada! I need to plan ahead..perhaps a chance to see President Obama in person...!!!....hmmm...Read more......

Writer of 'Whore' Nelly Arcan Dead

Celebrated Quebec writer Nelly Arcan was found dead in her Montreal apartment late Thursday evening. She was 35 years old. Arcan's first novel, Putain, enjoyed critical success when it was published in 2001. It was a finalist for both the Prix Médicis and the Prix Femina in France. It was later translated into English under the title Whore. She quickly became a literary star in Quebec and in France.
"She was a mysterious person. She was a real writer, and what I mean by that is she was not talking much about her personal life or the work she was doing. If she was writing a book she was not talking about it to people. If she was writing it, she was keeping it to herself." - Pierre Thibeault

A breathless (heavily autobiographical) novelistic account of the life of a young woman who sells her body for a living, Whore is a searing look at the world''s oldest profession and a confessional in the tradition of Sylvia Plath. "Cynthia," as the nameless narrator calls herself professionally, is a French-Canadian Catholic from the sticks who escapes her strict upbringing and stifling parents to move to Montreal as soon as she is old enough. One day she answers the ad of an escort agency and quickly becomes compelled by her strange new calling. Her visitors include an Orthodox Jew cheating on his piety, a boorish Muslim with a deformed arm, a never-ending parade of businessmen and fathers, and a young man whose youth and fitness disturbs her more than any of the rest of them. Cynthia never glamorizes her life-contempt, anger, and resignation ring out from the pages-but her descriptions are engrossing and her prose incisive. Nelly Arcan delivers an unyielding, poetic, and deeply personal account of one whore''s life. - From Her Publisher

Internet Addiction?

"Like other addicts, users experience cravings, urges, withdrawal and tolerance, requiring more and better equipment and software, or more and more hours online, according to Dr. Jerald Block, a psychiatrist at the Oregon Health and Science University in Portland. Dr. Block says people can lose all track of time or neglect "basic drives," like eating or sleeping. Relapse rates are high, he writes, and some people may need psychoactive medications or hospitalization." - Ottawa Citizen. Are you glued to the screen?

ReStart has a 12-step program, similar to those for alcohol or drug addicts, for recovering cyber junkies. "The idea here is teaching people how to be moderate in their behavior and stay oriented to the real world," - Hilarie Cash. The retreat has beds for six patients. A 45-day stay costs $14,500 dollars plus cash for daily expenses such as renting camping gear for wilderness adventures. (China has banned electro-shock therapy as a treatment for Internet addiction, citing uncertainty in the safety and effectiveness of the practice after criticism in the local media.)

Are you an Internet Addict? (take the quiz here)

38+ hours per week online

Denying excessive use

Changing sleep patterns

Eating at the computer
ILMAO = (I laughed my ass off) when I found out there is a 'BLOG' dedicated to internet addiction. Well that's the way to cure 'em.

The Pickle Barrel

The all Canadian PICKLE BARREL Restaurant first opened in 1971. Their humble beginning as an 85-seat diner style restaurant was an instant success and destination spot with great food and excellent value. I should know. I ate there countless times 'way back then'. Since that time over 35 years ago, the group of original owners has expanded the company to several locations throughout greater Toronto , including their newer Pickle Barrel Grand concept locations. The Pickle Barrel Restaurants has been a thriving business over the years and they have sustained their success by adhering to the time proven and simple business practice of offering a great product and excellent service at a superb value.

While they continue to offer the favourite menu items that have made them famous (like latkes, jumbo twisty poppyseed bagels and soup) , their owners and executive chefs travel all over the continent on a continuing basis in search of great ideas for a fresh and innovative menu. They have persisted with the old fashioned methods of preparing their dishes fresh-from-scratch at each restaurant, from their signature entrees, right down to their soups and sauces. Through regular consultation with acclaimed food writers, health experts and nutritionists, they have developed their well known low-carb and healthy eating choices on their ever evolving and renowned menu. The menu with “something for everyone” .

More than thirty five years of great food, professional service, classy surroundings and unbeatable value has put them in their own particular niche beyond compare. Other restaurants come and go, but the PICKLE BARREL continues to thrive and remains the best value in town!
