I'm working on a very exciting project.

But I can't tell you yet. Let's just say that the blogging world brings people together in wonderful ways. I look forward to partnering and collaborating with many, many of you in the near future. Creative minds think alike. I love that. It's perfect. Oh, darn it all, I can't keep a
secret...hmmm..O.K., just a little hint. She lives where you find shells like this every day of the year.

Where's Liberty Post?

Joni of Cote de Texas was wondering exactly where I live. (have you seen her magazine feature? I read somewhere about it..someone..would you mind filling me in on the details?) So that's the spot. The red dot. 1.5 hours north of the Toronto Airport in Ontario, Canada. Gee, it almost looks like I live near the equator, but that's just an optical illusion...I can actually 'almost' see Russia from my beach house....and wait for my snowy January or February posts!

The Egyptian Guest Heads to Santorini

Because living in Cairo isn't quite 'away' enough, she just had to give into a week in the Greek Islands.

AC360 and The Profound

"As someone who works in the field of grief and loss every day, I have come to realize that next to those we love and our own health, our home is one of the most primal relationships we have. It represents our dreams, our roots, and is the constant backdrop to our lives. To lose your home to a natural disaster or a man-made disaster is truly one of the most underestimated losses we can suffer. For most people in grief, they may deal with a loss of a loved one, a marriage, a pet, and all of these losses occur within the context of their safe haven that they can retreat to every night. But when you lose your home, the rug is literally pulled out from under you; and, you suddenly find yourself unanchored in a way that you have never imagined." -AC360 Blog

Baked

When you meet two men who come from a glitzy, high profile ad agency, but now put little reindeers onto home baked cupcakes, you immediately fall in love...with their bakery & goodies that is. I was introduced to these bakers by Grace and as you must know by now 'cake' is my favorite food group. I'm overdosing on their website. Meanwhile, in other news: Billionaire Warren Buffett told congressional negotiators that if they can't agree on a proposed financial bailout, the nation will face "its biggest financial meltdown in American history." I want to know this, should 'Baked' have financial business trouble in the future, will the President bail them out too. Come to think of it, I could use some money now. A new camera? A good one. Alas, let's get back to the cupcake headlines.....How sweet. Truly.

Sidebar: It is hilarious in the design difference between the website of Baked and the 2nd richest man in the world. What does that say?

I Know You've Got 20 Minutes

So I won't threaten to smother you with your pillow while you sleep. (which I thought by the way, was a brilliant way to get blog readers to watch it) Sir Ken Robinson is an internationally recognized leader in the development of creativity, innovation and human resources. He challenges the way we're educating our children and champions a radical rethink of our school systems, to cultivate creativity and acknowledge multiple types of intelligence.

Sir Ken has advised national governments in Europe and Asia and works with international agencies, Fortune 500 companies, not-for-profit corporations and some of the world's leading cultural organizations.

So, before you press play (and by the way if you are a parent or soon to be parent...you will benefit from this) get yourself a nice glass of wine, or hot cup of tea and a notebook to doodle your creative reactions. Then let me know.

The Social Correspondent

Away with At Home With The Farmer's Wife. That's not double talk that is the blog's truth. I received a big 'little' surprise in my mail box late last week. Not a sweepstakes claim that I won sixteen million dollars, nor a fistful of bills. I reached in and pulled out a postcard from one of my BBF (Best Blogging Friends); The Social Correspondent. Suzanne is the world famous blogger who creates down to earth, homespun tales and teachings; all complete with an incredible soundtrack (turn up your speakers when you go there); music accompanying and synchronized to her writings and images and many a tutorial on crafts, food and relationships. You'll learn about bun roll throwing, buzzard's roost, places to eat before you die and one of my favorites, The Maybe Someday Place.

The Farmer's Wife lives 9 miles from anything. You can join her on a journey to connect with the rest of the world and find some common ground. How will you know if you're at the right place? Her screen door will be open and the porch light will be on.

She and the Farmer are busy planning a build on some land in Arkansas. (aren't the Clintons from there? Perhaps she will have them over for a BBQ and we could go too.)

To be sure, it was delightful and fun to get this mail; physically holding it in my hand - a connection, social graces and friendship - how cool is that! Suzanne, as your VARDOGER, I must share an irony with you. You wouldn't know this, but the postal stamp was special and appropriate. Over the postage stamp, imprinted in smudgy black ink was this: "Let us dare to read, think, speak and write." - John Adams 1765 poweroftheletter.com

Can you believe it!!! How blogging appropriate!

Only this could happen to a gift you mailed to me. Thank You my friend.
For those of you who have not had the pleasure of meeting and reading Suzanne, I would encourage you to go on over now. No need to call ahead. She has an open door policy. (and be sure to put her in your favorites.) I'll see you all at her place.

Biden that is. And Barack. Cool. I want Canadians to get this passionate about our elections, but before you know it ours will have come and gone and nobody will know what the heck happened. Isn't that sad.

Katelyn Jane

Thank You for the kind words. You are too good to me....here folks...here is Katelyn Jane's new blog! Kitty Bags (on Etsy) were a creation started on a whim. Katelyn saw them in a magazine and tried it out. Impressed with the first version and the compliments from friends, family and strangers, she continued to make more of them and eventually built up the courage to start selling on Etsy. Katelynjane hopes to expand and improve on her store as much as possible and is constantly promoting herself and her Etsy-Friends' stores. Her favorite part of Etsy is the Storque. It's helpful tips and constant updating keeps her on her toes and helps her improve her creations and store. She's an avid blogger and loves updating her blog with new pictures, links to great Etsy shops and general creative chatter. See her Etsy shop now. Scoot!

Lust, Respect and Determination

This is how Paul Newman described his marriage. What a class act. We will miss you.

Newman's Own has grown into a powerful and lasting expression of Paul Newman's generosity. The Company has generated over $250 million in proceeds that have been donated by Paul Newman and the Newman's Own Foundation to thousands of charities worldwide. Particularly close to his heart were the Hole in the Wall Camps, now the leading global family of camps for children with life-threatening illnesses, which Paul started over 20 years ago.

Adrère Amellal Oasis, a high-end eco-lodge in Siwa, Egypt. The most exquisite site without electricity, only oil lamps and bees wax candles, organic food and everything is made with salt blocks and mud. The desert sky is amazing — they say at night you can drive by the light of the moon and stars. It's here that Alexander the Great consulted his oracle and where Cleopatra once bathed in a now-famous spring.

Vote for the guy with one house.

Because he is afraid of losing that house; therefore he relates to the average person. The guy with the 12 houses can not relate.

Sidebar: Ya know, many bloggers are hesitant to get political and that's fine. I'm not even American and I get political - because I find it all so exciting and fascinating and historical. The thing I want you to know about me though is this: I embrace differences of opinion. I stand by free speech, so if you disagree with me, bring it on - not to fight about it - but to open up conversations that show different points of view...that's perfect. Let's talk.

Postcards from the Edge, Orgy of Spending and My Presidential Seal

I am debated out. Exhausted. Worn down. I did perk up a bit when Obama said the word 'orgy'. I'm sorry that I can't remember who commented this but it was something like...'you don't always like the ones you love'. And I suspect that there are many around me who love me but don't really like me. Yes, it's been a stressful few days with family matters. I know that every one of you can relate to this. Every family has it's issues. Good days. Bad days. This morning was particularly 'good'. My Mom brought out her secret garment bag of knitted lovelies for the babies who will be here soon. Such mod colour combinations of infant dreaminess. And speaking of postcards, I received a surprise from a special blogging friend today too. (more about this present in a few days) Her post today has my breasts leaking. All in all, a very Good Friday. No pun intended. Happy Weekend. I will spend mine looking for my Presidential seal. xo

The Great Schlep

The Great Schlep from The Great Schlep on Vimeo.

Watch this. It's good for you. Bubby. (a.k.a. Liberty Post..who by the way wishes she lived in Florida, but is thankful she doesn't have grandchildren old enough to vote.) You will definitely want to print off these talking points.

It's moments like these that I worry. And then I remember how strong she is. (and how she is missing peanut butter)

Nymphoto

NYMPHOTO is a collective of women in photography dedicated to creating a community of and for female artists & art administrators, in order to span the gender divide that pervades throughout the art world today. Their primary concern is to increase the exposure of theirs & other female photographers and the work they create. The collective is a fusion of industries: the scholastic, the representative and the museum. Nymphoto is a collective of women in photography that provides a supportive community for its artists and strives to send a positive message to the creative world. By providing online exhibitions, curating group shows, creating collective publications and offering an open forum for artistic discourse, Nymphoto remains a trusted and innovative resource for women photographers. Nymphoto firmly believes in the power of community; and through this principle, they hope to equalize the gender imbalance that continues to exist in the art world today. In a society where the zeitgeist encourages ambivalence, Nymphoto hopes to mobilize the art world through good old-fashioned girl power, and aims to achieve goals as unbelievable as the stuff in Greek myths. The Blame Game

1 Peck. 1 Bad Apple can spoil the whole thing girl. Alright. Who should we blame? Osama, Greed, The Right, The Left, Humanity, Bush, Natural Economic Cycles, Terrorists, 9/11, The People, The World....? Does it really matter?

Bush: 'Our entire economy is in danger'

Now what? By the way, we know beer is in that coke can silly. Dire.

Here is the church

Here is the steeple. Open the doors and see all the people. Oh, they've left this teensy tiny place of worship. Notice it's not much bigger than the webbed lawn chairs. I pulled over on the highway to Wiarton today and I was one of perhaps 20 cars in just a few minutes. We were like the U.S. press corps awaiting McCain on debate night.....all fighting to get the best spot, the perfect shot and the most divine photo-blessing. Amen. (some things are just not all that funny)

Quite possibly the most beautiful blog post of all time...

Experience the beauty and sound here....courtesy of Pia; the photograph of her dusty old friend will take you away to another head space...be open...be open...this post brought tears to my eyes...trickling down my cheek, across my lip and down my neck...the kind of tears that are a mix of tired and joyful and worried emotion and amazement and love and all life's tender memories....the best tears blended with happiness...do you know what I speak of? The moment when music gets in when nothing else could; that breakthrough...that's what happened.

The Creative Economy (and have you taken my poll..look right)

The report, oriented towards the worldwide creative economy, recommends that governments invest in infrastructure, innovative financing possibilities for the arts, the development of cultural policy, drilling into export markets, and protecting copyrights. Culture is now a major source of income. Culture is the main export product of the USA. Music, movies and software from the US flood the world. This said, shame on the Prime Minister of Canada for announcing today that he plans to all but snuff out funding for our Arts & Culture for good.

A Vision in Griege

And I quote. My post title came directly from our hurricane master and blog feature creator, producer, writer and internationally famous designer, Joni of Cote de Texas. Incredible back stories here, as only Joni can tell. If you have fallen badly for 'griege', as I have, here are some companies that will allow you to swoon or purchase: Brahms Mount Textiles in Maine, Fine Linens, smooshy outdoor cushions from Colcha Home via AT or why not this 19th century hemp and linen woven table cover with subtle herringbone weave; heavy and hand hemmed from Family Linens. Bloggers: Hold On To That Hope

In case you are new to my blog, here's a quick debriefing. I am a Canadian. I can't vote in the U.S. election, but it is my firm belief, as a citizen of the world, that what happens in the U.S. directly effects all of us. Having said that, I embrace the right to express my opinion (I'm not asking anyone for permission) and I do agree with Hidden in France that 'Blog City' (Liberty Speak for blogosphere), has been down in the dumps. They've had 'A Week of Wound Licking'. Perhaps a titch negative - ominous - foreboding. That's alright. We have to hold onto something before we can drop it. I'm just saying....Hold on to that hope. Don't let it go. Don't let this historical moment, opportunity, fall through the cracks. I think he'll be really good for you and for the rest of us (world).

SIDE BAR: It saddens me that many bloggers seem unsure or hesitant to state their political views. We finally have an avenue to do this. No one will judge you, and if they do, who cares. I don't think there are many of us who have shareholders to please. I don't think many of us can get fired for stating our opinions. We have the power to move people, change lives and give others something to think about. If you blog about pretty rooms, now is the time to blog (at least one post or one sentence) about future pretty rooms, filled with people who are free and safe and peaceful and healthy and hopeful...and what you personally are going to do to contribute to this progress.

'All we are saying. Is give peace a chance.' - John Lennon
