If I could make one Australian wish (besides doing lunch with my blog pals down under), it would be to walk through the doors of the Ken Done Gallery. I would increase the size of the wish and beg the stars to grant me the opportunity to meet him and paint with him for one day. Did you know that his art sells for thousands of dollars? (I mean six figure thousands) Ken was an 'Ad' guy for years and then he decided to become a 'Monday Painter'. I think that is so cool. I'd pick his brain and watch him work. I'd sneak Montreal smoked meat sandwiches into the studio and offer him a taste of Canada. I might even whine a little until he took me to his beach hut where I'd take portraits of him in the sand. Then before I turned back into a Canadian pumpkin, I'd buy a t-shirt and gifts and posters to take home with me. Now that's a dream. Anyone out there able to make it come true? Ken?

Ken is cool. I have met him, albeit(!) briefly. I think it's phenomenal & awe-inspiring when an artist is able to make money 1. when they are still alive and 2. so much so that they manage to feed their family from their income. Ken has exceeded all of the above and has made enough money to support generations of little Dones to come. I only dream to follow suit.

I think it's great too that he has managed his own business, helped along family and been so successful for such a long time.
His artwork is really inspiring too and definitely reminds me of Sydney every single time I see it.
