Boo !

What a fright! Look who is sitting in my friend's car! That's enough to give you a heart attack, but actually it was kinda cool...there was a sign in the driver's window that said, 'Please don't drink and drive.' Excellent message to all the parents and teens who will come by for trick or treat.

Car Bomb

It seems that Google has come up with a list of the Top 5 words or phrases that Canadians search. This 'blows' my mind:

1. Car Bomb
2. Iraq
3. Tom Cruise
4. Britney Spears
5. Burrito

What the heck! Doesn't this disturb you just a little bit? Why and who is searching car bomb and now does that mean that anyone who searches that word will have the FBI and the CIA and Homeland Security all over them? My god.

If you are the FBI and you are reading this post because YOU searched 'car bomb' (why are you searching car bomb?), then please scan over my blog, for you will find that it's about soda water with lots of lime, apple pie and silly ideas. I am not a terrorist. (Am I allowed to use the word 'terrorist'?). I could be in a pile of sh_ t right now.

And furthermore, why are Canadians searching 'burritos'? (I'll let Lou Dobbs answer that one for us.)

I say we Canadians need to focus on Tom Cruise (did they mean to search cruise missile?) and Britney Spears. Much lighter topics. ugggh.

So with that I leave you my closing thought: As a Canadian, I don't want anyone to be able to find out how to make or use a 'car bomb'. Google: Why can't you take the damn phrase right off your search engine and put more content about Fran's up there? It's the coolest little diner that opened around the time of WWII.

Let's all eat pie together and get along.

The Blues

Some times blogging gives me the blues. I have so much to say and so much to offer and at times I feel like there isn't anybody out there reading, listening, commenting. And then I pick myself up and dust myself off and say 'For god's sake woman, get a grip on yourself. Who cares?'. I started this blog to share my ideas, photos, commentary, life and work. It's my little world onto itself. In the beginning I was hoping for just one person to link me. Just one. And then a wonderful blogger Beach Bungalow 8 did! And then another and another and another. How amazing I thought. To be validated like that. So I want to thank each and every one of you who have linked Liberty Post. It means so much to me. Now for some of you bloggers who have hundreds of links, you may think, big deal, a link. But to me, a link is someone who cares. Who shares. Who gets you or at the very least is interested in your voice, your style, your offering. Some times blogging gives me the blues and then it all comes out in the wash like a wonderful, indigo 'thinking of you' card; you get a lovely comment...like the one I got today from Restyled Home. Thank you. By the way, my favorite colour is blue, so everything is going to be O.K..

Have a Spooky Week

I'm heading off next week on a business trip. I hope you all have a fun haunted time. (I don't like Halloween.....frightening!) I'll check in to see what everyone is posting. Thanks for the 'Liberty' mask Mom...you're my biggest fan and I love you for that! Boo!

Fabulous Farmland Females

In the middle of nowhere, just up river from Niagara Falls; nestled in a tiny hamlet (fewer than 1000 residents) is a shopper's dream. Four enterprising women have branded a very small place that sits between wineries, fruit orchards and farm fields. This destination is really hard to find, but when you find it - ta da! A glorious gem. They have style; they have it all going on. There are only 4 stores. Yes, I said 4. There is not one other thing in the town which is tucked inside miles and miles of rolling landscape. I loved this discovery. Isn't it amazing! Take the tour below!

Welcome to Ridgeville (Population 20?)

You can Nibble, Nosh and Sip Espresso

Fresh Bread and a New Handbag

Take home trinkets, shoes, chocolate and gifts!

How can any woman resist this quaint, lovely place? I fell in love with it and I hope you can visit some day soon. Do you have any 'hamlets' this delightful near you?

Shadows of our former selves

Remember when you were young? On a shoot the other day, I discovered a nearby playground and was immediately transported back to school days when we'd play '4 Square' at recess. Boy, oh boy, we were active. Life was all about moving and jumping and stretching and running and joyous physical activity. This is the shadow of my former self. No longer active; just the motions to get from one chair to the next. Up out of bed to my laptop, up to shower to get out the door to sit in the car for hours, out of the car to sit in some one's home, back in the car to drive, out of the car to the laptop, up to go to bed. This is a personal crime! What am I doing? I need to get my body back in action! How about you....is your day more physical or stationary?

sta·tion·ar·y
adjective

1. standing still; not moving.
2. having a fixed position; not movable.
3. established in one place; not itinerant or migratory.
4. remaining in the same condition or state; not changing
5. a person or thing that is stationary.

The 'O' List

I want everyone in the world who has a computer to be sent a little postcard that says:

"If you are a blog lover, this is about as good as it gets......" - Oprah

I'm speaking about Liberty Post of course, because I really want something like that to happen and then I could say:

"And the rest was history."

Ahhhh, the power of the 'Big O'.

Gone

Come taunt me all you want
I will stand strong amongst your denials
Up near the blue love beyond
You used me up
And then you were gone

Come taunt me all you want
I will stand strong amongst your denials
Down near the blue love beyond
I used you up
And then I was gone

The Birds

The great ironies of life; the haunting patterns that reveal themselves are always around us. Have you ever noticed that during a specific time period, certain occurrences, topics, conversations or sightings continue to repeat themselves? Is this coincidence that I was teaching my 8 year old God Son to take photographs of an abandoned, boarded up farmhouse beside a church, when all of a sudden, something spooked a mass of birds to fly out from the trees to swirl above us? (click on the bottom photo to see how many there were)

We heard them first. We stood in disbelief second. We took photos third.
And then they were 'Gone'.

Poolhouse

I'm holding my breath you agree that these photographs would look splashing on the walls of a poolhouse. The bottom two are painterly & impressionistic in feel; youthful boys always in motion. I love the top one. How can teens resist diving? I'd like to see them extra large in scale and grouped together - the top 3 on one wall, the bottom two on another. Just add water and fluffy white towels. You can visualize the rest!
