Tuesday Blues/Turquoises

Blue is the favored color choice for toothbrushes.

I found this cool site about colour!

More out of the blue facts....

The highest quality Ultramarine Blue is made with powdered lapis lazuli from Afghanistan.

Pablo Picasso's Blue Period refers to a series of paintings in which the color blue dominates and which he painted between 1901 and 1904. The blue period is a marvelous expression of poetic subtlety and personal melancholy and contributes to the transition of Picasso's style from classicism to abstract art.

I just figured out that many of the blogs I visit daily feature 'blue' in the photography! Like here and here and here. Of course, who can resist a blog by the name of Turquoise?

Some turquoise facts over at Patricia Gray and plump blueberries and brown gingham at Beach Bungalow 8.

This quote is so 'Liberty' : “If you see a tree as blue, then make it blue.”Paul Gauguin

Monday Morning Sweetness

They're gone. All gone. Those wild blueberries are finished up. I am satisfied and content now.

Monday Yellows

Buttery vintage cars and yummy, chilled egg salad sandwiches on fresh pumpernickel....could yellow be more delicious than this?

Oh! Congratulations to Hula Seventy for her big front page debut! Wow, that's hot (like yellow)!

Let's Travel with Colourful Ribbons

I am excited to learn more about these countries from Colourful Ribbons. We can all travel without leaving home! Should be fun! By the way, she is looking for some advice on how to source some things....

Weekend Dream Fulfilled

A scrumptious wild blueberry pancake sitting on a lovely quilt my Mother created for my daughter. The cutlery was used 40 years ago on fun-filled camping trips we'd take as a family to Algonquin Park. Yes, my Mother brought proper cutlery. Those were wonderful times. My Dad shaving while looking into a tiny round mirror hooked onto a pine tree and my Brother running through the trees scouring for beer bottle caps that we'd collect and then create mosaics in the sand at the beach. I can still smell the fresh breaded pickerel frying in butter on the Coleman stove. Ahhhh.

Why I Love Blogs

Blogs put the power of the press back in the hands of everyday people who for generations before would hand out pamphlets, send letters to the editor, and post flyers in the hopes of reaching a handful of readers who would hopefully understand their commentary, ideas and views.

Often it was who you knew rather than what you had to say that was the determining factor in whether or not you got published. Just think of all the talent there is in our community. Now everyone can have a voice.
"A bird in the hand (see the bird in her hand?) is worth two in the bush." This means it's better to have one blog of your own than to wait a lifetime, sending out several queries, waiting for someone to validate your work and maybe, just maybe: 'Yes' we'll publish it.

As pioneers, bloggers are fulfilling the promise of the World Wide Web.

Freaky Deaky Elvi and Drive By Shootings

The entire area is 'hound dogging' and ready for the big Collingwood Elvis Festival. You just have to imagine how weird it is to experience this event. The Town of Collingwood has about 15,000 people - they have sold 200,000 tickets to this 4 day event! People travel from all over the world to see Elvis impersonators and shop in the Elvis market, drink gallons of beer, shop in the stores that are Elvinated. It is surreal! I'm going there today. (it's only 10 minutes from the beach and even we 'Beachers' get involved with Elvis concerts.....we don't want to feel left out)

When you see a bunch of Elvis impersonators (young Elvis, army Elvis, fat Elvis, handsome Elvis) we call that 'The Elvi'.

I went to Collingwood yesterday, just to check out the progress - a giant stage - a huge one in the middle of the main street (which gets closed off) - event planners buzzing around - and lots of new faces landing in town.

I've started a new series of what I feel are interesting 'Drive By Shootings' - photographs I snap while I'm driving (yes, I'm safe) - I stumbled across this little new project because you can't find any parking this time of year, but I don't want to miss any shots. So this is the first shot of a series. More to come over the next few days. (It's also part of my Blacks/Browns/Whites Thursday a shinyhappysummerprojecttime from Hula Seventy)

I am saddened by all the gun crime here in North America and I just wish these people would use cameras instead of bullets, don't you?

Hey! Perhaps, just maybe we could all do a collective project to raise awareness of this issue.

Calling All Bloggers: Let's share some 'Drive by Shooting'. Give it a try - just hold the camera out the window of your car or while you're riding your bike and click - you will be so surprised to see what gems you come home with! (Caution! Please drive/ride safely - keep your eyes on the road and never mind what the camera is doing - it makes the discovery of your creation even more fun!)

Patricia Gray Inc.

My de-cluttered and colour-blocked walk-in (still too overstuffed). I organized my books today too. (They say that you can tell alot about a person by the books they read.) I guess 'they' could say the same based on the dominant colours in your closet. I am getting to a point...really. I had a so-so day. Kinda humdrum and I must admit I had one of those 'what am I doing?' days.

It was so incredible - I mean really great to find out that Patricia Gray quoted me on her blog. And, my Dad sent me an email (Thanks Pop) with a lovely quote:

“The only difference between where you are now, and where you’ll be next year, are the books you read and the people you meet.”

See how all this is making sense now....while I was questioning myself, someone 3000 miles away was kind enough to do something really nice -so Thank You Patricia (my fellow Canadian)

Sparkly Daddy and a Tear running down my Cheek

Proud is not the right word to describe my tour today of the camp my daughter is working at....emotional is better. You see, all of these children have Juvenile Diabetes and it is truly the only time of year that they can be with hundreds of other kids and not feel different. It is a medical camp (my daughter has diabetes and this is her 9th summer, however now she is a Craft Director) and these young campers are awesome. This little girl was obviously missing home. Art gets through when nothing else can.
